Die ABU Cardinal 355, Built by Abu Sweden, wurde im Napp och Nytt Katalog 1982 vorgestellt und gab es nur ein Jahr lang.
Die Cardinal Modelle mit der 3 an erster Stelle, hatten eine ganz große Besonderheit, es wurde keine Petticoatspule verwendet, sondern die alte Form, der Cardinal 4, letzte Version, aber im Durchmesser wie bei der Cardinal 55 + 155! Außerdem waren diese Modelle leicht vereinfachte Modelle, vom Getriebe her. Und man konnte die Kurbel, nicht wahlweise auf beiden Seiten anbringen, was in meinen Augen ein großer Vorteil war, denn dadurch, hatte man nicht das Problem das sich die Kurbel ständig lockerten, oder die zu dünne Kurbelachse sich verbog!

Die Rolle ist in einem sehr schönen Zustand, fast Neu.
Aber man erkennt auch gut, das der Rotor und die Spule, eine ganz andere Form haben wie bei der 55 + 155 + 555!

Mit der Aufschrift “ BUILT BY ABU SWEDEN“ da konnte man fast schon ahnen, das das für die Zukunft nichts gutes bedeutet!

Das Getriebe ist ganz ähnlich wie von der 155 und auch hier erkennt man das die Rolle nicht gefischt wurde!

Ich hatte das große Glück, das mir der Les Shaw, von der Firma, Classic Vintage Fishing Tackle, noch eine neue Ersatzspule besorgen konnte !

Hier die alte neue Spule, für die Cardinal 355, die Form ist sehr ähnlich wie die von der Cardinal 4, aber die Maße Vorne und Mittig entsprechen der Cardinal 55 + 155 ! Aber es ist keine Petticoatspule ! Und dieser Umstand, macht sie zur mit Abstand seltensten ABU Garcia Cardinal Spule!
Warum genau ABU sich zu diesem Schritt damals entschlossen hat, kann nur vermutet werden? Aber es war auf jeden Fall teuer , ein völlig neuer Rotor + Spule mussten konstruiert und produziert werden! Vielleicht war es deshalb, damit sich die „älteren“ Angler nicht umgewöhnen mussten?

Here’s the old new spool for the Cardinal 355. The shape is very similar to that of the Cardinal 4, but the front and middle dimensions correspond to the Cardinal 55 and 155! However, it’s not a petticoat spool! And this fact makes it by far the rarest ABU Garcia Cardinal spool!
Why exactly ABU decided to take this step back then can only be speculated. But it was certainly expensive, a completely new rotor and spool had to be designed and produced! Perhaps it was so that the „older“ fishermen wouldn’t have to adapt to a new system?

Hier gut zu erkennen, der hintere Teil unterscheidet sich deutlich, in Länge und Durchmesser, von der 355 zur 55, 155 und 555 !
